Thank you, Karl, for providing this link.

I suppose that most people on this list know what software patents
mean for free software.

Commercial software is affected as well.  Software patents are
probably the death for many small companies which cannot afford the
license fees.

But there is another point:  Software devolpment is a great chance for
developing countries.  For software development you do not need much
money but knowledge.  And people in many developing countries have
this knowledge.  And the knowledge is all they have...
