[texhax] tabular justification and width tricks

Hello,

I have a table
\begin{tabular}{|c|l|p{1cm}|}
c & l & p1cm
\end{tabluar}

The p{1cm} sets the width to 1cm but also makes it centered, is there any
way to make it left or right justified as well. I have tried l{1cm} and it
does not work.
