How does one use Asymptote on TL

On Ubuntu I get:

$ which asy
/usr/local/texlive/2024/bin/x86_64-linux/asy
$ asy
asy: error while loading shared libraries: libglut.so.3: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

Updating the package with "tlmgr" did not change anything.

I reported this issue some 8 years ago:

it was fixed for a little while, and it worked with a -V flag or latexmk,
but now, not even that works.
