problem(s) with extractbb and extractbb.lua recently introduced

Folks,

I hate to jump into a conversation I don't understand, but I'd really be surprised if
any piece of TeX Live was configured to look for binaries at /Library/TeX/texbin. This link
does not necessarily point to the binaries of the 2024 distribution. Instead, it can point
to any distribution the user selects in TeX Live Utility as their currently active distribution.
The link is for GUI programs, so making a single switch in TeX Live Utility automatically
reconfigures all the GUI programs at the same time.

If a piece of TeX Live is configured to look at /Library/TeX/texbin, then today it may point to
the 2024 distribution and tomorrow it may point to 2023-Basic and the next day it may
point to the 2019 distribution.
