TeX Live 2019: ./install-tl: unexpected return value from verify_checksum: -5

To install TeX Live 2019 in my local directory on Debian 12, I downloaded https://pi.kwarc.info/historic/systems/texlive/2019/tlnet-final/install-tl-unx.tar.gz https://pi.kwarc.info/historic/systems/texlive/2019/tlnet-final/install-tl-unx.tar.gz, unpacked the archive, changed into install-tl-20190410, but then:
$ ./install-tl
Loading https://ctan.ebinger.cc/tex-archive/systems/texlive/tlnet/tlpkg/texlive.tlpdb

./install-tl: unexpected return value from verify_checksum: -5
$ This is nonactionable for me (except digging into the source code). So any bug fix?
