Yes, I use scp and rsync over ssh regularly in unattended file
transfers between my computers and backup systems. In additon, my
computers do not allow user/password which is safer. An attacker can
guess a weak password but will hardly guess a private key. You just
have to know how to generate the keys on non-unix systems and then it
works.
