Problem with figures

I am using texlive 2020 and am unable to compile simple latex files 
which include a graphic file. I have attached the test file, the log 
file and the eps graphics file. I am using pdflatex to compile. This bug 
exists in the latest stable version of ubuntu (20.04) as well.
