Interestingly, unless/until Karl makes the requested change, there appears no straightforward way of reading the .txt file that Alexander recommends.

  * texdoc media4svg/README.txt

(with slash in either direction) simply says 'Sorry, no documentation found for "media4svg/README.txt"'.
