I explicitly tested only crashing with 'Load default'. I don't know if
other exit's are used with different actions (for example, core
dumping happens after tlmgr updates itself). I'll try and report back.

Or I can simply list the actions that lead to core dumping, and you'll
know what exit is used.

Sorry, I realised that I wrongly understood your question after
clicking 'Send'. 

It happens after this piece of code from tlmgr.pl is executed:
$remotetlpdb = TeXLive::TLPDB->new(root => $location, verify => 1);
