Just a guess:
Perhaps you do not have installed the postscript versions
of the fonts invoked when the russian option is present.
In that case, bitmap fonts will be created. These often
give that sort of appearence BUT ONLY IF the PDF viewer is
not configured to provide antialiasing for bitmapped fonts.
If both these are the case, it can be solve by either
installing the relevant fonts or reconfiguring okular.
