In fact, I made a second mistake: as the trouble occurred on netbooks,
installation was done not from the DVD, but from a USB stick: the
students copied the TL .iso file from the stick to the hard disk of
their netbook, extracted it with 7-zip and ran the installation with
install-tl-advanced on:

  -- Windows Vista (or Seven, I don't) for one student;

  -- (German :) Windows XP for the other.
