[tex-live] context.cnf

    I just noticed that there is context.cnf in texmf/web2c     
    (in addition to the one in texmf-dist/web2c 

There is no texmf-dist/web2c in TL, nor should there be.
Nor is there any other context.cnf in TL besides the one in texmf/web2c.

    What exactly is that file doing there? 

svn log show that I created it when I was the one doing the context->tl
import, back in 2006.

    May I remove it?

If that is the right thing to do, by all means do so.  You-all surely
know much better than me about ConTeXt configuration files :).
