Oh, and should it matter, being a windows only user (by history) I'm
running a clean windows ship with no linux/unix tools installed (yet,
I'm going to take a look at the GNU collection). So no cygwin, perl or
python distribution, etc. IMHO, thats an environment in which TeX Live
for windows should be tested, in case it isn;t.
