I find the 2nd of this series of lines a little suspicious;
I would expect it to say something like

 > ! I can't find file `ecrm1000.mf'.
 > ! I can't find file `ecrm1000.tfm'.
 > ! I can't find file `ecrm1000.<whatever>'.

but just a bare

 > ! I can't find file `ecrm1000'.

seems odd to me.
