[tex-live] updmap-local.cfg

Hi everybody,

I fail to include my local .map files in TL2008.

According to file updmap-hdr.cfg, a possible way is to have a 
TEXMFLOCAL/web2c/updmap-local.cfg file holding the local maps to include 
and to execute command
tlmgr generate updmap
This should permanently add them.

When I do this, a new updmap.cfg file is generated (it includes my local 
.map files, that's fine) *but* it is written as 
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf-var/web2c/updmap.cfg
and the 'active' one (according to kpsewhich and texmf.cnf) is
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg
so my local additions are ignored by updmap-sys :-(

I have not changed any setting in the standard texmf.cnf and my file 
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf.cnf is standard (only comments).

What am I missing?
