we discussed a multilingual catalogue, a while back: i think jim has the
infrastructure, but there's nothing in the dtd that i recall. (i got a
new dtd yesterday which i've not looked at yet, but that was to address
a different set of problems.)
one obstacle is that we don't have any catalogue descriptions in any
other language than english. (the ctan team covers english and german
as native languages, and two of us have french as a second language.)
in principal we could start translating to german; in practice, there's
none of us who could do the job who have any significant spare time (to
translate, you need to have the source language as second language, the
destination language as mother tongue).
apart from all of which, i don't know how we would represent a
multilingual catalogue.
so, to stop rambling ... we have had basic ideas, but none of them
carried through to actual implementation.
