[tex-k] Question on dvips

Greetings:

I am using TeX to generate a report and 'dvips' to automatically print 
that report.

Although this works on Solaris, 'dvips' does not print on Linux. Details:

Linux: 4.9.7-201.fc25.x86_64

dvips(k) 5.996  Command: dvips -t letter <dvi_file>

The PRINTER environment variable is set properly.

Note that when I follow 'dvips' with a "LP <postscript_file>", the 
report is then printed.

Can you give me some advice?
