I'm not sure what didn't work yesterday, I'm quite sure I tested with
the babel turned on explicitly, maybe I missed something, because today
it works. The hyphenations seem OK, and I got down with Overfull errors
to around 1850 from almost 9000 for a 889 page pdf.

Quite a good result, I expected it to be worse with my small pattern
file.
