David Carlisle already posted an update for miniltx.tex (the file that
underlays all loading of LaTeX packages in [e]plain), and it should be
making its way around the TL/MiKTeX mirrors now. I hope it suffices; I
admit I didn't actually try it. --thanks to all, karl.
