[tex-eplain] Problem with marks and \doublecolumns

In the attached TeX files, I have a problem with marks and \doublecolumns:

At the end of the file 'productions.tex', if I use \singlecolumn to balance the columns before the
\vfil\eject, I get an erroneous value for \firstmark in the \headline.  If I don't, the value and the
headline are correct, but the columns are unbalanced.  The problem occurs on page 43.

The correct output is in 'all_no_sep_correct.dvi', the incorrect output is in 'all_no_sep_incorrect.dvi'.

To generate the output, run 'tex all_no_sep.tex'.

I tried to make a minimal example, but when I tried to eliminate other parts of the document, other
errors cropped up.

I suppose it's because \singlecolumn calls \output indirectly.

Any help would be much appreciated.
