[tex-eplain] What .ist file should I use for pdftex?

I tried my old ascii.ist file but it didn't work.

I tried the plaintex.ist file but it yielded
strange results  e.g.:
A BC, 5, see also M
A gricultural Bank of China, 1, see also ABC
B  ank of China, 1, see also BOC
B  ank of Communication, 1, see also BoCom

I just want a conventional layout like the above
but without the extra space and with character

Is there an existing  *.ist file that comes closer
to what i want?
