[tex-eplain] Marginal Notes?

[Arctic Fidelity]

Hey, I've been searching all day long trying to find out if there is a way 
to do marginal notes (little notes in the margins of a document) with eplain 
and plain TeX, but I can't find anything. Is there anyone who can help me 
here? Do you know of a good package or the proper commands to do this? I 
found \marginpar for LaTeX, but I don't really want to use that.
