the postscript environment is only needed when you have another
command or environment around the pspicture one, e.g. \psframebox.

If pst-pdf works well for you, then there is no need to change.
PST2pdf works in another way and with perl it could be
possible to have only one script for all operating systems.

I will try tomorrow to run it under Windows. I have no real
experiences with this system.
