[pdftex] Very basic questions on pdfTeX installation

Greetings to all,

I'm interested in setting up pdfTeX on a mobile device on Linux. Could 
someone give me a rough idea as to how much disk space is required? Also, is 
the installation smoother than for full TeX systems?
