The ttf2afm in Fedora Core 4 (from tetex-3) is also ver. 1.0 and fails
the same way.
Ver. 1.02 is also in pdftex-1.30.6.  I create a bugzilla entry for
Fedora Core tetex
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=190404).
