[pdftex] BibTex Entry

Hi

Any idea why an entry in a bibtex file that looks like
this:

author : "Elain Carter, Richard Jones, Gill Morgan \&
Stuart Partridge"

comes out in a different order?

My entry looks like this:
Gill Morgan & Stuart Partridge Elaine Carter, Richard
Jones
