[pdftex] Acrobat legends

Adobe Acrobat Professional has a nice feature which allows you to add 
legends to graphics. However, if you include the graphic in a LaTeX file 
and compile with PDFTeX, the legends are not visible in the resulting PDF 
file. One solution is to save and include the graphic in jpeg format, but 
then you loose the adbantages of vector graphics. Is there a better solution?
