[pdftex] Incredibly PDF filesize difference by pdflatex compared to ps2pdf

I can confirm that, as Thierry Bouche suspects, the
fonts used on my MiKTeX are Type1 converted from their
OpenType source on Slackware 9.1 by Eddie Kohler's
otftotfm part of lcdf-typetools-2.2.tar.gz using the
method described in the example in the manpage of
otftotfm.
