[pdftex] ratty fonts when importing pdftex output into Windows
Journal

For the last two years, I have been doing presentations in the following
way: I prepare a file in TeX, run it through pdflatex (under linux) and
then import the resulting pdf file into Windows journal on a tablet PC.
This was quite satisfactory as it allowed me to display nice-looking
printed text using a projector and annotate the text while I was lecturing.
However, I recently upgraded linux, and along with it, pdftex, which went
from version 1.00b-pretest-20020211 to version 1.10b. Using this new
version, the fonts (in windows journal) look very ragged, almost as if I
was using bitmap fonts instead of type 1 fonts. Please note that visually,
the _pdf_ files look the same as from the old version. It is only when
imported into journal that the difference is evident. I did check and the
font files themselves have not changed.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and what I can do to fix it?
thanks in advance,
