[pdftex] pdf version

I've been working with pdflatex, and I have had some
bugs with picture inclusion. I've tried to put pdf
pictures, but didn't work because of the pdf version
(pdf version 1.5, adobe 6.x). I would like to know if
it's because my pdflatex needs some update or if it's
because another thing?
