[pdftex] Acrobat 6, PDF 1.5?

next versions of pdftex can be configured to ignore a compatibility test;

the problem with these things is that if a higher format demands 
manipulation of document/page/xform resource dictionaries problems can 
arise when pdftex (or more precisely: xpdf) is unaware of that
