[pdftex] Gnuplot LaTeX output with pdfLaTeX?

I've used MetaPost a lot, but it doesn't really have support for basic
plotting functionality, such as histograms etc. (Basic time series
with the graph package -- yes.)

(And, yes, I'm a MetaPost fan too :)
