[pdftex] Setting up envelopes

I finally faked out the system by increasing the vertical dimension by
arbitrary  amounts. I ended up with 

\pdfpageheight 8.125in
\pdfvorigin .250in

...which relocated the image upward enough. Surely there is a more
elegant way to do it?
