well, font management has become quite bizarre with acrobat 5. My
feeling is that the PS produced with acrobat 4 was often a much more
faithful image of the PDF.

Moreover, if you use some MM font with pdftex, you probably use
something to create instances (a font app or mminstance?). these are
typically PFB files that CoolType doesn't like so much...
