[pdftex] Re: "BoundingBox" Error

you are using pdftex but have told latex to override its default and to
produce code suitable for dvips.

\documentclass[dvips]{article}
              ^^^^^^^^

You should be able to just remove that option. If your distribution
isn't set up to automatically detect pdftex graphics option then you
could change the document to [pdftex] but not specifying either should
allow the file to work on either system (especially if you don't specify
.pdf in the filename eiither)
