[pdftex] char protruding

no, you have anyway to set the protcode for any given font, there's no
global declaration. 

So, in this case, you would do something like
{\fontencoding{TS1}\selectfont\rpcode\font 176=200}
(and do it as many time as sizes you may want to use)
