[OS X TeX] beamer ignorenonframetext makes pythontex fail in texlive 2021

Sorry, as this is not specifically a macOS related question, but it has got me perplexed.
I am teaching a programming course, and am reusing some of last year slides.
I am now using texlive 2021 and was previously using texlive 2020.
I would have switched back to 2020, if not for the fact that I made a clean install and don't have it anymore.
Right off the bat, simply typesetting the very same file that worked fine last year caused errors:
Non-existent Pygments content on input line ...
I started a minimal file, and that did typeset without issues.
I made a copy of my file, and started removing packages, to a point where it seemed identical to that file that typeset, and it still wouldn't.
In the end, I found that, under the present installation, using
together with pythontex makes it fail.
The moment I removed the ignorenonframetext everything was working.
I am posting as I think it may happen to help someone who faces this issue.
It is still a nuisance, as I typically add material outside the beamer frames, which is intended for a readable printable version, and now I will have to adapt my workflow.
