[OS X TeX] TeX throws error

Somehow I messed up something with my TeX installation. When I try to compile using TeXShop, I get the error

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.23 (TeX Live 2022/dev) (preloaded format=pdflatex)
 restricted \write18 enabled.

First I thought it was TeXShop, but running latex from terminal also throws an error:

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.23 (TeX Live 2022/dev) (preloaded format=latex)
 restricted \write18 enabled.
---! /usr/local/texlive/2021/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/latex.fmt made by different executable version
(Fatal format file error; I'm stymied)

I deleted and reinstalled MacTeX and TeXShop, but still have the error. I guess I am stymied as well. Any assistance would be appreciated.
