[OS X TeX] font issues with lucida under MacTeX 2017

After updating to MacTeX 2017, the following source …

    \documentclass{article}
    \usepackage{lucimatx}
    \usepackage{lipsum}
    
    \begin{document}
    
    \lipsum[1]
    
    \end{document}

…generates strange error messages about fonts, as shown below.

It works just fine if I switch back to TeXLive 2016 as the distribution, or if with TeXLive 2017 I use default CM fonts or use the lucidabr package instead of lucimatx. What’s wrong?
