Still in 10.6.8, I have been getting the same: forcible removal of some packages.

In TeX Live webpage,

   <https://www.tug.org/texlive/>

you may see that TL14 is frozen since April 10, and the public release is scheduled for June 12.

By the way, in <http://www.tug.org/mactex/> the link to TeX Live Utility is outdated.
