[OS X TeX] Handling mailing list options

Hello,

since the mailman interface of the list appears to be down for a while already, I'd like to ask how to switch the list to plain digest mode without using the web interface?

I've tried sending "set digest plain" in the subject and in the mail body to macosx-tex-request at email.esm.psu.edu, to no avail, the list manager replies: 

- Results:
   Not authenticated
