[OS X TeX] pdfopen in MacTeX useful?

I want to thank everyone for your responses. I should have tried Preview first 
(now that I have Lion) -- it does refresh as soon as one cycle of 
does-not-have-focus has-focus happens. And as part of the regular workflow, one 
is in the terminal when the pdf changes so just clicking on Preview does the 
trick.

All of the other tips were helpful -- workflow, Skim, pdflatex or not.
