And presumingly you would be able to request an universal build or a pure 64-bit build – or a 32-bit build if your hardware is from the earliest intel Macs. The paths given can be passed to configure via (necessary anyway for libXSLT and libXML2)

I am _not_ using MacPorts for TeXLive now.
