[OS X TeX] personal package : following 2

Hello again,

I thought I used the MacTex installer, but I don't find any reference to it in the folders.

My tree in the Home Library is :
Library / Tex / Tex live utility - Excalibur-LuaTex and XeTex Etc. Not the usual stuff I used to have on PC
another is : Library / texlive / 2010 / texmf-var and more folders leading to nothing.

The "normal " folders are on the HD, there I have Tex / Local / tex / latex / local. I also put my .cls and .sty files there.

If I understand well, the files are not in the right library. Do I have to reinstall maxTex to get it properly ?

Thanks to you all.

Karine

PS for Richard : I promise, next time I will make an example, but I think the problem is not in my tex files (in the example).

Thank you for your answers, but I have tried what Justin advised first : I created a texmf folder in the library and put my files in. But it doesn't seem to work.

Then I found the Tex Latex local files as André advised, no more result. I tried Refresh package list. Nothing.
I typed "texhash" in the terminal (with and without quotation marks) : nothing.

Any more ideas ????
Thanks again.
Karine

This /texmf/ directory in your /Library/ (or /Bibliothèque/...) has to be created.

You can also use "Go to directory (or folder)..." (Aller au dossier...) in the Finder Goto menu and type /usr. You find there a host of directories for Unix usage, usually unknown to the Mac user (/usr is the defect, I think you shall have nothing to type in).

There you will find /local, then /texlive, then /texmf-local/... /tex... /latex... then /local again. You can put your .cls and .sty at this place.

They will be able to be uses by any user in your computer.

I suppose it is necessary to run "texhash" in the Terminal to make texlive aware of the new files.

André

To open the Terminal, open the Applications folder, then Utilitaires (I don'to know the English name, but you have a .fr address), then Terminal.

Howdy,

You said you installed TeX Live. Did you install it using the MacTeX installer package (recommended) or did you install TeX Live directly? The following is if you installed using the MacTeX installer package.

Into which Library folder did you put your personal texmf tree? It should go into the Library folder in your HOME folder, NOT the one at the root of your HD.

Where did you put your files? They must go into the standard locations within the tree: package files (cls, sty, fd) files go into ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/ (or sub-folders thereof); bib and bst files go into ~/Library/texmf/bibtex/bib/ and ~/Library/texmf/bibtex/bst/ respectively. Remember, ~/Library/ is the Library folder in your HOME folder. You will have to create the folder hierarchy the first time around.

Good Luck,
