TeX and the OS are different things. In case Snow Leopard offers an
upgrade path from Tiger without erasing the disk, i.e., without
erasing your private data, you don't need to care about MacTeX. It
will survive.
If you want to upgrade MacTeX you can do it with the 2009 pre-
release. It has a command line utility with an optional X11 GUI named
tlmgr, and there is another Mac OS X application, TLU or TeX Live
Utility, which both can update pre-release TeX to the final version,
once it is released this or the next year. A bit different are Mac OS
X TeX applications. These can be downloaded separately.
