What's the format of the graphics you are trying to include? Recent  
versions of XeTeX changed the default for the XDVI-to-PDF driver  
invoked behind the scene for converting from the XDVI output format of  
XeTeX to PDF.

The default driver used to be the Mac-specific xdv2pdf, now it's the  
cross-platform xdvipdfmx. xdv2pdf accepted all formats known to  
QuickTime, xdvipdfmx does not. A notable example is TIFF, which  
xdvipdfmx does not understand.
