[OS X TeX] ams problems

Try this:
\documentclass[journal,twoside,final]{IEEEtran}
\usepackage{amsthm}
\begin{document}
\end{document}
I use the IEEEtrans.cls which I can send as an attachment or you can
try some other class. I don't know how to make a generic class
statement, otherwise I would send you a snippet with that.
