First, I should say sorry for not having realized in my message of
this morning that you were precisely the developer of dvipdfmx.
Thanks to William Adams for pointing this to me off-list, thereby
avoiding that I make more of a fool of myself.
Regarding simpdftex_dpmx:
- The usage info does not document the option --dvipdfopts.
- Maybe it's time to modify the original simpdftex, and also add an
option --distiller-opts, allowing to specify the option "-
dAutoRotatePages=/None" of ps2pdf, as suggested in <http://tug.org/
pipermail/macostex-archives/2007-February/028509.html> (should the
suggestion be correct, of course, I'm not sure about that).
In the long term, could simpdftex accommodate running xetex and
xdvipdfmx (or xdv2pdf) as well? That would imply, I imagine, more
extensive modifications:
- Replace the --dpm and --dpx options by one --dvipdf which could be
invoked as either of:
--dvipdf=dvipdfm
--dvipdf=dvipdfmx
--dvipdf=xdvipdfmx
and such that the use of this flag switches the use of dvips and
distiller off.
- Add an option --tex-prog which could accept as input something like
"xetex -no-pdf". Or would simply
simpdftex "xelatex -no-pdf"
work the same way as does
simpdftex latex
- Make sure that .xdv extensions could be accepted in addition to .dvi.
Maybe that's all useless, given XeTeX includes already all the
switches necessary to produce PDF output and does not need simpdftex;
I was just thinking aloud.
