[OS X TeX] Using Gentium in LaTeX

This is very tantalizing, but a little more information would be  
useful.  I picked up the package above, and it contains no ReadMe  
file.  I put the various files (*.pfb, *.enc, *.tfm, etc.) in  
directories under /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local but I would  
appreciate some more tips (a) to confirm that I put them in the right  
places; (b) to update the font mappings to make them available [a  
most vexed issue in recent times, one on which I have made more than  
my share of mistakes already]; and (c) to allow me to use the various  
characters (especially the phonetic ones) in LaTeX.  Since I'm fairly  
familiar with TIPA I might be able to help with the T3 issue above,  
if someone will tell me what needs doing.
