[OS X TeX] So what to do with MacTeX?

So I've been watching all the discussion about the new MacTeX
distribution, and as a fairly intermediate mac user (i.e., not afriad
of the command line, can read some code, can do most of what I want
with TeX, but can't and don't want to program or HAVE to deal with
too much stuff under the hood), I'd be interested in seeing what
people advise.

I installed the previous version of MacTeX (the 10 November
version), which seems to be based on GW's TeXLive i-package (since I
update it through the i-Installer). Now that there's an updated
version of MacTeX, which we've discussed much on the list, is there
any reason to install that? Or should I perhaps wait for the dust to
settle and do that after 1 January? What advantage will be conferred
to me by "upgrading"(?) to the newest MacteX?
